Preschool

GOALS

This stage of development is when young athletes are introduced to the game of basketball. 

This stage emphasizes:

  • fundamental skills
  • fitness and agiility 
  • team concepts
  • game knowledge (i.e. what is a foul, floor spacing, etc.)
  • love of sport in general

 

Every player should feel encouraged by coaches, parents and peers. We try to develop and introduce skills through game play and various activities. 

This promotes:

  • strong work ethic
  • team play
  • responsibility/ commitment
  • develop a love of the game

During this stage emphasis on coaches, players and parents is to have fun and enjoy practicing and playing the game.

Weekly sessions: Skill development / fundamentals and team concepts, organized games and team concepts/ rules etc.

Beginner

GOALS

Novice

GOALS

The program's foundation is the teaching of basketball fundamentals in a fun, positive environment. Although the Beginner Program is the initial stage when young athletes are introduced to the game of basketball, the Novice Stage of development continues to build on those skills and fundamentals. This stage emphasizes:

  • FUN
  • fundamental skills
  • game knowledge (i.e. what is a foul, floor spacing etc.)
  • love of sport in general
  • fitness

Every player should feel encouraged by coaches, parents and peers.  We try to develop and introduce skills through game play and various activities.

This promotes:

  • strong work ethic
  • team play
  • responsibility for one's actions
  • develop a love of the game

During this stage emphasis on coaches, players and parents is to have fun and enjoy practicing and playing the game.

Bi-Weekly session- skill development, agility skills, fundamental skills, team concepts and 'small-sided' games (ie. 3 on 3 or 4 on 4)

  • Grades: 3-4
  • Session Times: Wednesday 4:30pm-5:30pm and Saturday 8:30am-9:30am
  • Location: PACI

Junior

GOALS

The program's foundation is the teaching of basketball fundamentals in a fun, positive environment. Although the Novice Program is when young athletes are continued to be introduced to the game of basketball, the Junior Stage of development builds on those skills and fundamentals. This stage emphasizes:

  • game knowledge (i.e. what is a foul, floor spacing etc.)

  • fitness

During this stage emphasis on coaches, players and parents is to have fun and enjoy practicing and playing the game.

Senior

The Senior Stage of development continues to build and expand on the skills and fundamentals the Junior program teaches. This stage emphasizes:

High School

GOALS

To develop proper skill development fundamentals and game concepts using the Basketball Canada Development Model. Players will build on fundamental concepts and skills during each training session and throughout the 8 week model. This model of team concepts and competitve game situations is the perfect lead-up to the high school season. In addition it builds self-confidence, learning how to practice properly and personal growth.

 

What type of player is this best for?  

Beginner to advanced players (most players have played some type of organized basketball in the past)
